Transgender Voice Clinic
A healthy, authentic voice is not achieved by affecting a way of speaking or copying someone else. It is achieved by developing the voice you have and finding your own unique identity through your voice.
Assessment of your voice, carried out by a Magic Words speech and language therapist, will highlight which areas we need to focus on together. You may already be aware of changes to your voice.
The aim of therapy is to work towards a voice that is compatible with your indentified gender and that you feel comfortable and happy with as reflecting the true you whilst respecting the physical structure of your vocal tract.
The amount and type of therapy offered will differ from one individual to another. All voices are different and people learn new skills in different ways. Some people may have a smoother transition into their new voice whilst others may find voice changes particularly difficult. Many factors can influence progress such as your ability to commit to therapy, your motivation to improve and your personal circumstances. It is therefore imperative that you are able to devote time to practice the skills we teach in therapy sessions.
If you are someone who has been striving to find your own authentic voice, a voice that is a right fit for you, then voice therapy with one of our speech and language therapists could be the answer.
